Hong Kong Disneyland

Going to Disneyland has always been a dream of mine since I was little. I grew up watching a lot of Disney films, and I loved all the Princess movies. I know a lot of little girls love Cinderella, Snow White, Princess Aurora (a.k.a Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Pocahontas and Mulan. Over the years, Disney has produced a lot of films that tickle the hearts of both young and old.

When I was invited to come for a trip to Hong Kong, I got so excited because I knew one of our stops was Disneyland! The first thing that we did when we arrived was eat at the Starliner. The food was quite expensive, but the servings are good enough for two. I spent $61 for my meal. Then we spent a lot of time exploring. By 3PM, we were already waiting for our friend. He’s part of the parade. The theme for Hong Kong Disneyland’s 5th year is “Flights of Fantasies”. It was our first time to watch German, our friend, perform during the parade. He’s been working there for 4 years now. If I was as talented as he is, I would’ve joined Disney’s HK performers!

“Look at this stuff… isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete? Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl The girl who has ev’rything? ~ Ariel”

We all enjoyed watching The Golden Mickeys. This show will really take you back to your childhood. It showcases musical-awards ceremony that gives honor to Disney’s famous characters. Bebe, a Chinese performer, was the one who hosted the show. She sang and danced with the Disney characters, while announcing the nominees for the different categories.

Hong Kong and Macau Amazing Race Trip

It seemed like February 18, our trip to Hong Kong, couldn’t come any faster. We booked our flight on December, and my anticipation for the trip grew and grew bigger, especially when February came!

Our flight left at 7:30pm on February 18, Friday. I haven’t had any sleep yet from my shift, so I left for 1 1/2 hour during the flight. Imagine travelling to another country with no ounce of sleep for more than 24 hours! A pain. But our flight landed on time in Hong Kong at 9:10PM. I didn’t expect the cold. Our friend, Philip, who works at Disneyland, welcomed us at the airport. When we exited the Terminal 2, my face was touched by the cold. It’s much colder than Baguio! I wore my trusty pink bonnet and we walked towards the bus stop.

One of the things that I liked about Hong Kong is that there is an organized bus system. Maybe in a month, I would know all the bus stops and drop offs around Hong Kong. When we arrived at our stop, we entered the Tung Chung Terminal, and used the 24 hours walkway inside the CityGate Mall to La Rossa Tower A. The flat we stayed in is on the 35th floor door F.

Here’s a look at our flat:

My sister’s flight was at 10:55PM, so they arrived at around 1AM. Since I haven’t slept for more than 24 hours, I turned in early and slept until 7am the next day.

Hong Kong-Macau Trip

Our Hong Kong – Macau Trip is getting close! I am quite excited and I have been doing a lot of research, since this is our first time to go there. I created an itinerary for the 8 of us who will go on this trip; 5 from Manila, 2 from Singapore and 1 is local!

Here is my proposed itinerary:

I don’t think we can go to Ocean Park after coming from the Giant Buddha, because it takes about 2 to 3 hours travel time. We may, however find other activities or go to another tourist attraction. We might spend the time doing some serious shopping! Well, not really… I don’t plan to splurge on anything that I don’t need. The trip costs a lot already.

Our backup activities and adventures, include Avenue of the Stars, Noah’s Ark, and basically walking around Hong Kong. I wish we can cover a lot of land in Macau! My cousin has been there and she gave me a few tips for our Macau trip. She said to visit The Venetian-Macao Resort Hotel first. From there, we can go to the other attractions, like the Ruins of St. Paul College, and more.

I also read from an article that the Portuguese egg tart is a delicacy in Macau, and is a must try! I will look for this and get some. I was thinking of bring some back home, but I don’t think it will even get to Manila!

After our Hong Kong-Macau trip, I plan to have a travel fund, so that the next time I feel like flying somewhere, I am ready! I need to find travel buddies. People who appreciate exploring different cultures, tasting different foods, and meeting the locals. I want to explore South Korea and Japan. But I hope to travel the Philippine Islands first, if only local travel is not too expensive. It’s more expensive than travelling abroad!

My Boracay Guide

Keep in mind that when I went to Boracay, it was my very first time. I was the girl who text messaged all of her friends asking if they’ve been to Boracay and asked how much budget should I have, what hotels should I check out, and which airline should I choose to fly with. I didn’t get a lot of help, because some of them actually forgot their vacation details… so, as an online girl, I had to use the only means that will turn up a lot of results when I type “Boracay guide“.

I scoured different message boards, but the best place that I found was Female Network’s Girltalk. They were on their 10th Boracay thread when I joined in the exchange of feedback about Boracay. I had to back read a lot of times because I didn’t to be the n00b who asked the same questions that have been answered before. But, I’m not here to tell a story about that. This entry is my guide to Boracay!
