Sa-teer-deeh!

I am in school right now, using an hour of my 20 hours free internet usage for the semester. I am waiting for my friend, Lexie, she’s still in class until 11:30. We’ll go to Ink-finity to buy some transfer papers. Ryan’s birthday is coming up and I decided to make a shirt for him. I already have the blank t-shirts and the design, I just need the transfer paper. I hope that he’ll like the shirt because it’s personalized. I chose to do a black print on a white shirt. He likes whites, or plains, or greens. His friend already told me that he will give him a Maroon 5 CD. So that is crossed out on my list. Plus, I am broke, so I don’t want to spend as much money. Next month will be our first anniversary as boyfriend and girlfriend.. Yiheee!

Anyway, in class this morning, we were solving programming flowchart problems. After an hour of figuring out the problem, I was able to solve it. The only error I got is just minor according to my professor, because I only missed the semi-colon (;) syntax. I got a 95% along with my 2 other classmates because they got it after I did. I just hope that I’d still get the same grade come our exams, and when the real programming for the C Language starts.

My aunt is planning to reshape the upper eyelid. I told her that there are lots of clinics in the US that performs Blepharoplasty. I emailed her the details I found from the website. I hope she has all the information that she needs.

Back To Reality

School has officially started for me last Thursday. I think I have the worst schedule! I only have 4 school days to attend to, but on those 3 days, my classes start at 7am! O.o On Saturday, yes, S-a-t-u-r-d-a-y, it starts at 8:30am. I am not a morning person, so waking up at 5:30 in the morning is really hard for me. I still have the same classmates, except for this one guy. I am still one of the four girls in our section. It’s not that bad. I mean, I like hanging out with them girls and some boys.

We have a new professor. Thank God! He will be teaching us Computer Programming, includes Java and C Language. I don’t know what to expect, but he seems to be pretty good. I believe I will learn a lot from him because he also seems to be very knowledgeable of his craft.

On my Audio/Video Production and Adobe Flash classes, I am semi-unfortunate to have the same professor as to my previous subjects. Well, he’s forte is Aud/Vid Prod, but he admitted to us that he lacks skills on Flash, which is a very important prerequisite to our Game Development class next semester. I do want to learn Action Scripting because I only learned the basics of Flash animations and the basic action scripting on web development using Flash last year. This is going to be a struggle. I wish they provide us with books, because I don’t really want to rely on my notes.

For my 3D Modeling class, my instructor is the one I had for my Basic Drawing class. I know that he’s fit to teach us this because I’ve seen his drawings. Although he’s not that close to his students, or maybe just to us, he’s very kind and approachable.

This is going to be another roller coaster ride!

Soaked;?

Last Sunday, we had a family outing. I thought that it’s not going to push through since my aunt’s plan wasn’t confirmed until 7am the next day, when my mom woke me up.

At first, I didn’t want to go because I was too lazy to get out of bed, but part of me wants to go have fun. Besides, it’s summer and I want to be embraced by a big body of water!

My aunt didn’t make any reservations to any resorts, so we just drove to some resorts and try our luck. Our first stop was at Lake Villa, where I took this picture. Unfortunately, there were 2 big excursion buses already parked outside, so we had to move and find a new place. We also went 2 more resorts but they’re both fully booked.

Our last option was Park Ridge. It’s a clubhouse so near our place. We could’ve been there in less than 30 minutes. That’s the reason why I don’t want to go places unplanned. Specially when it really requires planning.

Anyway, when we got there, we almost didn’t get in because the place was booked by a church community. Fortunately, not everyone was going to go swimming. My sisters and I excitedly went to the changing rooms to wear our swimsuits.

3 Sisters

I only took a plunge in the water for 30 minutes because of all the days that it will come, it came last Sunday. Argh. Yep, it’s that girly visit that only girls get!

It was still a fun-filled day for most of us. I got to spend time with my family, and that’s more important. I took loads of pictures and those would be put up in my Multiply account.

In Despair…?

It’s the first day of my summer vacation. That means NO school work until June! Yay! The final exam for my Digital Graphics & Photo Manipulation class was easy, IF we had enough time to do all 8 activities in TWO hours! I mean, imagine making different photo manipulations in 2 hours. As an artist, inspiration don’t just strike 8 times at 1 time. Specially if you are working with uncut and raw photos. I was tempted to ask my professor about the amount of time he spent making his sample finished manipulations. I wanted so badly to know if he finished all of those in 2 hours. Argh! But of course, I didn’t. Compared to my other professors, he’s the best among the worst.

Wednesday, Ryan and I had a little misunderstanding because of my classmates. He was annoyed when he found my classmates here at home, and I was in front of the computer, printing their school activities. The persons who were supposed to come over were only 4, but my thick-faced classmates tagged along with them. I already told them beforehand that I don’t like a lot of people to come over our house. But one of them insisted to the *allowed* visitors that I won’t be able to do anything if they’re already there. WTF?

Since I don’t want to be much of a bitch, I bought Gardenia tasty bread and cooked Lucky Me pancit canton. Good thing they bought their own bottle of Coke. I don’t want to sound like an ungracious host, but if you knew some of the people who came over, you would understand where I am coming from.

I am not much of a “party” person. I only like to hang out or party with my friends. I don’t like big crowds, or noisy bunches of annoying people. But enough of those annoyances…

I finally have time to update my websites and work on a project with Lexie. Hopefully, by April everything is good to go. I will be working on my free time to design some stuff, and learn more about PHP. It’s a good thing that Lexie’s friend gave me an e-book I can read.

Tightened Leash

Summer is actually here in the Philippines. The heat is scorching and the air is humid. I hate humidity. Yes, that means you sweat like crazy even if you’re just sitting on a chair, doing nothing. But the advantage of this season is that you have an excuse to go to the beach, and I love the beach!

But the hint of summer means the end of a semester. The end of a semester means final exams and last minute school activities submissions. I have so many things to finish for three subjects. We have 14 activities to do in MS Publisher, 2 in Macromedia Freehand and 1 Comic Strip using MS Powerpoint. Oh, the pressure!

I have been working on my school activities every chance I get. Unfortunately, my DSL connection has not been working since Friday afternoon. I called my provider and the rep said that there is a problem with the connection nodes in our area. Yesterday, the rep said that the problem has been solved, but I still can’t connect. The DSL light on my modem is unlit. That means my connection is still worthless. Argh!

A Life For Yours

Tuesday, 6th of March. My sister, Chicka, sent a text message to my sister, Juvy. Juvy called her up and from the tone of her voice I knew that something’s up. After the phone call, she told us that the FX Taxi she rode with her 2 classmates was held-up.

As she was relating the story to us, we found out that the 2 men were armed with guns. But thank God no one got hurt. My sister was able to think fast and she was able to slid her 2 cellphones and her friend’s iPod Nano at the backside of her seat. Unfortunately, when the 2 guys were about to get off the vehicle, being that its1 keys are very sensitive to touch, it lit up. The guy, of course, took the iPod from her.

After two days, while I was cooking lunch, I heard one of our dogs, Chipipo, yelping in a weird way. Juvy and I went out to look at him. He was lying on his side and it was like he was spasming and then he slowly closed his eyes. Maybe his yelping was his way of saying “goodbye”. Juvy went to his side and started crying. I wasn’t really crazy about that dog, but I felt sad, too. Juvy used to be the one tasked to feed our 2 older dogs. My dad said that one of the reasons he died is for eating live chicks. We have chickens, too. He said that the tiny bones of the chicks might’ve done something on his insides.

Chicka’s friend told her that according to her mom, our dog saved her life. In our culture, it was said that when we encounter a near death experience, there would be an instance that one of our pets die. I didn’t believe it, but I think I do now. One of her classmates that was with her sent her a text message and told her that her pet cat died!

Eerie.

Chocolate Chairs

Yesterday afternoon, my classmates and I went to Sta. Ana Elementary School to help fix and pain their desks. A few of my classmates and I were late for 20 minutes, thanks to me! I couldn’t leave home right away because my dad asked me to wait until he gets home.

Anyway, there were other students from the other sections. This is actually a part of our community service for our NSTP subject. I believe this will be the last one. I painted 2 desks by myself, and I helped Melai with 1. Painting desks wasn’t really hard, what sucked was that we were under the heat of the sun, plus we were standing on uneven grounds. It’s nice to help out with little things such as that, but I was sore after. It’s my time of the month, you see… and before I went there, I was already feeling nauseas.

It’s a good thing that I wore house slippers because there were paint droplets on it now. It’s pink2 and the paint is in a chocolate brown hue. One of my students3 was there, watching me paint their chairs. I didn’t bother talking to her because I didn’t like the fact that there were instances when they didn’t attend their tutorial lessons. Their school is a bit far from where I live, and it was a waste of time and money going there and finding no one to teach. I feel a little bad that those kids didn’t really learn anything that they can take with them because their attention span is just to short. Dré painting a desk chair.

Fast Paced

I finally have DSL. It was up and running the other day and I was ecstatic! My dad and I tried it out. He checked his email that he hasn’t checked for ages, while I did some uploading and upgrading on some of my sites. It feels good to be able to do things fast.

Lovefool…LoveFULL.

I was late for school yesterday. Booboo followed me out of the house without me noticing. She ran like hell in the street and I had to run after her. I was going to call my dad to go get her, but he was inside the house and there was a van fast approaching, so I had to run faster. I got to her on time, but then I missed the ride out of our place. Gah.

In school, we made a cover for a gadgets magazine. I wasn’t really satisfied with my end result but, I think it looks OK. I think the time wasn’t enough yesterday. I finished it a little over 1pm, and our class ends at 1pm. After our class, Lexie, Melai, Charity and I went to the mall. Lexie and I went to the grocery while Melai and Charity went to Jollibee. I bought ingredients for Macaroni & Cheese and food for Booboo. Lexie and Melai ate at Jollibee. I decided to eat lunch at home instead.

I got home by 2pm and prepared my lunch, then set a pot of water to boil for the macaroni. After lunch, I started to prepare the ingredients for the Mac ‘n Cheese. I cut the bar of cheese into small cubes and opened the 2 cans of mushroom soup. I started to clean the living room while cooking. I swept and mopped the floor. I had to let Booboo out so she won’t be in the way. She likes to jump on the broom while I’m sweeping. Silly dog! I was able to finish everything by 4:30pm. I went out for 10minutes to have Booboo play outside for a while and sniff the surroundings. Yep, she’s so curious! It’s a good thing she didn’t run off again when I called her to come inside.

I took a bath again since I was so sticky from sweat. Eww. I love bathing! After my bath, Ryan informed me that he’s almost here. I hurriedly fixed myself up then waited in the living room. When he finally arrived, he had with him a box full of donuts from GoNuts Donuts. Yay! I love the Yummy Vanilla flavor. Too bad he was able buy just two. It’s the best seller, most times it’s gone before the afternoon.

ApocalyptoWe watched the movie Apocalypto. It was a good movie, but it’s kind of graphic. It portrayed how old civilizations lived. Sacrificing humans to please their gods and ravaging other tribes to get humans to be sacrificed. Eventhough the movie wasn’t in English, the way the people used their facial expressions and body movements, made me understand the emotion of the scenes without reading some of the subtitles.

After the movie, my aunt called to tell us that we’re going to eat dinner at their place. Ryan and I walked to their house and had dinner. He still has to go to work. He didn’t go home yesterday just to be with me. He brought with him clean clothes for work and I let him take a bath here. He slept at his office’s sleeping lounge. My aunt commented that I was blooming. *smiles* Is it because of Ryan? Partly, yes. He makes me glow with happiness. At 9pm he was off to work.

Valentine’s day was great, but sadly, time wasn’t enough. The more important thing is that he came and spent it with me. He sent me a text message saying that he was happy to have spent the day with me, and agreed that the time spent wasn’t enough. But still, I was happy. No more bad memories for V-day. *Yay*

Boring

I feel better now. My mom and I still don’t talk, but I am trying to make peace with her. She still doesn’t want to talk to me, but I want her to know that I’m good.

Ryan and I are both in good moods yesterday afternoon when we talked on the phone. I told him what I noticed yesterday about him. He was a bit cold. He said, we both we’re having bad days yesterday. His schedule at work just changed and he doesn’t like it. But we’re really good now. Thank heavens!

In school yesterday, we were asked to make a case study. A comic strip using Microsoft Powerpoint. Honestly, I don’t see why we should use that program, since Adobe Photoshop is a better tool for that. But anyway, the title of my comic strip is In The Life of the Freaky Neighbors” I got the idea just today, since the stock photos I found are of wooden people and dolls. I think it’ll turn out good. I will upload it once it’s finished, so you can try to enjoy it. Hehehe! :haha:

It’s getting colder and colder everyday here in Manila. According to the weather forecast, the weather is caused by the cold winds coming from Siberia. I love the cold weather! I can sleep comfortably, and most of the time, I just want to stay in bed! But of course, I got to go to school. Boo!!!

No Read

For our NSTP class, we were assigned to teach 4th grade students to read. The students that were assigned to us are very slow learners. I mean, at this stage, they should already know how to read. I taught 3 girls, named Angelu, Mariel and Kristee.

Mariel has problems recognizing some letters. She can read some words, but I think it’s only by recognition. She doesn’t really know how to read them. Just like a little kid who would see the sign of McDonald’s and would easily say McDonald’s, even if the little kid doesn’t know how to read.

It’s sad to know that there are a lot of kids who pass to go to another grade level but not really learning the basics. I learned to read with comprehension when I was 4 years old, both in Filipino and in English. My mom taught me my ABCs and my 123s before I even started school. I am very grateful for that.

What disappointed me today, was when I asked the 3 girls what they want to be when they grow up, their answers shocked me for a moment. Angelu wants to be a nurse, and changed her mind, and now wants to just go abroad and work (as what?). Mariel wants to be a Japayuki (are foreign prostitutes in Japan). Gasps! This girl Kristee wants to go to Japan, too. All of them mentioned that they want to help their parents. I told them that in order for them to help their parents, is to learn the basics. Learn to read!

The public educational system in the Philippines should be improved. I am lucky that I went to a private school. I wish the government does something about this. The three-hour tutorial that we spend with these kids each week is not enough to better their situation. The teachers must be strict in providing their students all the tools that they need to learn the basics. In my opinion, they must not pass a student just because they feel sorry for them. It’s not right.

I wish things will be better tomorrow.

Meeting His Friends.

Yesterday, Ryan and I attended the baptism of his friend, Allen’s, baby. It was at Villamor Air Base. The ceremony was held at the small chapel in front of the army general’s house. Ryan introduced me to his childhood best friends. They are Nelson, Allen, Harold and Christian. They were very friendly and accommodating. They made me feel at ease and included me in their conversations. When we arrived at the reception, I felt a bit alienated because of the girls there. They don’t talk to me, or even ask who I am. I told Ryan about it and he said they are his friends too but he’s not really close to them. It’s a great thing that they transferred to another table. Thank heavens!

The rest of the afternoon was OK after that. His friends told me the most embarrassing stories about Ryan, and he would try to cover my ears half the time! :haha: I kept on laughing about all the funny stories. They really go way back, as in, kids-still-peeing-on-their-beds back. Among his friends, I’ve observed a few things. Harold, he’s the most responsible one, in my opinion. I guess it’s because he’s already a family man. His boy is so cute! His kid is 10 months old and I was able to carry him for a few minutes. Nelson, is the crazy one. He likes to play jokes among his friends. He would make up stories about Ryan so that I’d be suspicious of him. But of course, I just end up laughing along with everybody! :haha: Christian, is the quiet one. He looks serious, but I think that there is more to him that I don’t see. Hmm… Allen, is the what-you-see-is-what-you-get guy. He just does what he feels like doing, and says what’s on his mind. I didn’t really get to talk to him much, since he’s the host of the party, but he was nice to me.

Ryan said that he’s really happy that I’ve met his friends already. I am, too. At least, when he talks about them, I’d be able to understand who’s who.

In School

In school today, we just continued our activity from last week for our Macromedia Freehand class. It was supposed to be for our preliminary exams, but our professor said that what we submitted last week has been graded. He also showed us our prelim grades. I passed, but I thought I could’ve done better. Maybe I just expect too much from myself, but then again, I know my capacity. Anyway, there are still other exams where I can do better.
