Eight Hours

I finished 8 hours of my internship last Saturday, and boy, was I tired! Well, I guess, it was because I didn’t get enough sleep the previous night. Our class on Fridays is up to 7pm, and I when I went to bed around 11pm that night, and I tossed and turned until 2am. I could not sleep. My eyes stayed wide open, so I decided to listen to my iPod until I doze off. Listening to music actually helps me sleep. Most people cannot sleep with the music on, but I can. Well, the songs on my iPod are slow songs, so that helps, too.

I got up at 7am that day and I was ready to go to my OJT1. It takes me about 30 minutes to get there, which is an advantage. Lexie and Richard, was already waiting for my by the shed. We walked to the compound and went to the main office. Our boss gave us instructions on what our tasks are for the day.

I was assigned to do a folder brochure for Adrien Multimedia Inc. He gave me specific instructions on what he wants to see. He actually has a keen eye for a good design. He knows what he wants and how it should be done. Even so, he still gives his people the freedom to add their personal touches. I wasn’t able to finish the design that day, I wasn’t given a deadline. Our boss just wants to make sure that we were able to do something for that day, and fast. It’s a great thing that their computers have enough memory.

By 5:30pm, he came by the IT Department and checked on us. He was with his cute little boy who named himself “Robin”. He said, his older brother’s name is “Batman”! He’s three years old and his dad wants to find a babysitter for him because he is extremely naughty. Well, it’s quite normal for boys his age.

We go back on Thursday for another 8 hours of work. I plan on bringing my iPod to work, though. I actually got bored staring at the computer for those 8 hours.

  1. Wow, sounds like you’ve been busy! I never had an internship, I went straight into the job world after school. Hope it keeps working out for you!

  2. OJT, wow, sounds very exciting. And when I hear “internship” para super.. uhm.. exciting ulet? ahah. nakakatuwa lang, wala lang. Ako I can’t sleep with the tv OFF. it has to be on even if im super sleepy na, i still leave it on. music helps me fall asleep too.

btw, sabi nila, it’s not appropriate to have an earpiece (for music) while at work. just bring it and connect it to your computer or something. goodluck and have fun miss dre! =]

  3. Wow that sounds fun, I guess I sort of do that with photography as I intern at our local newspaper. I love it to death! Do you get paid for yours? That would be awesome. I get paid at one and do not at the other, it is still fun though. So you want to be a graphics designer? That would be awesome. I thought about that but I would hate to be stuck at a computer, so I decided photography was more for me. I adore your layout by the way. It is so creative and cute. You for sure need to be one with that skill!
