Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009!
It’s the last day of 2008 and it feels like the year just passed me by like Superman trying to save all the damsels. I am not sure of I can rate this year as a better year for me and my family. We truly went through a lot this year, like surviving the fire, picking up the pieces to help my immediate family. Until now, they are still struggling.
Just like last year, I will recap the year that’s passed.
January
- I held a free domain and blog hosting contest, which Jake won.
- My internship at a multimedia company ended and I was so relieved to leave!
- Heath Ledger died. It was sad for me since I liked the movie “10 Things I Hate About You”.
February
- I met Ryan’s dad. He lives in California and came home after 18 years. I was quite nervous, but everything turned out great.
- Treated Valentine’s Day as a regular day.
March
- My father turned 54.
- Endured and enjoy the last few days of college and attended job replacement seminar to “prepare for the future”.
April
- I graduated another college course, Multimedia Arts.
- Went to Puerto Galera for the 3rd time with Ryan and a few friends. I also posted a Puerto Galera guide.
May
- Our home got burglarized. I lost my digital camera, my cellphone; my sister’s wallet was taken, too; P300,000 worth of our family jewelry were taken as well. My dog, Booboo, was even hurt by the burglars.
- I got a job as web designer from a US company; which I’m still with indefinitely.
June
- Trying to look busy at work. I am still adjusting to the new environment and dealing with older colleagues.
- Still paranoid. We can’t leave our home without anyone left behind. The police found the suspects who burglarized our home, but no case has been filed due to lack of evidence. I miss my old camera…
July
- Watched “The Dark Knight” on Ryan’s 25th birthday at Greenbelt. We also ate Capricciosa and their food is awesome!
- Boyfriend Birthday Ideas is now one of my most searched and popular posts.
August
- My “LIPGLOSS is NOT the Filipino Gossip Girl” entry attracted a lot of haters, well, more fans of the show kind..
- I bought a Canon Powershot G9 as a replacement for my stolen camera. I love it!
- Ryan and I reached our 2nd year together.
- I am a loser because I missed the Eraserheads Reunion Concert.
September
- I finished reading the Twilight Saga books. I did it in 3 weeks!
- I met Matt Mullenweg, along with other Filipino Wordpress bloggers. It was a fun experience!
- We acquired two more lovable dogs. A fun addition to our family!
October
- My sister and I bought a new LCD monitor. We’re still paying for it!
- Participated in this year’s Blog Action Day.
- Experienced a huge hump in R and I’s relationship.
- I took part on our community’s Halloween Party as their non-pro photographer.
November
- I opened my very own online shop: Handmade Memories – which boomed!
- Rihanna and Chris Brown: LIVE in Manila was a blast! I watched with my 2 sisters and Ryan.
- I received a bad news regarding my job. Apparently, my job is hanging in the balance. Until now.
- I watched the most anticipated movie of the year: Twilight. [and it did kinda suck]
December
- My job is extended indefinitely.
- I turned 26. Eww.
- I spent Christmas eve with my family and relatives on my mom’s side, and spent Christday day with my family and friends on my dad’s side.
I guess 2008 wasn’t that bad or that great, but it was definitely a colletion of experiences that made me a much stronger person. I still think that everyday is an opportunity to experience different and new things. I am looking forward to a new year of better experiences. I hope to find a better job, or probably start a family business. I don’t really list down New Year’s resolutions, I just go with the flow and see where like takes me.
Good luck everyone! Don’t lose any fingers!
Happy New Year!
