My Twilight Movie Reaction

I’ve seen the movie twice this weekend on the big screen. I was hoping that it would be better on the second time, but, as anticipated, the movie kinda sucked. For me, anyway, along with all the others who agrees with me.

The first thing I noticed is the poor sequencing and editing of the scenes. Some of the scenes that were on the trailer were not on the movie at all. Like the part when Emmett told Edward, “She’s not one of us!”. It is not in there at all. Well, of course, what do you expect from a low-budgeted film? It is exactly 2 hours, I wish they could’ve spared 30 minutes more to include character building for each cast that were featured in the book, like Carlisle’s story, and where Alice came from.

Aside from the fast-paced editing, the background music is really distracting. In some scenes, the music, I believe, is not at all necessary or is too loud. Bella, looked confused on every scene, well almost. Most times, she bites her lips. Edward? Hmm. Yes, he does look gorgeous, but not too-gorgeous to hide the mediocre performance. He could do more acting workshops. And Jasper? He doesn’t look like he’s in pain. He looks constipated! Well, maybe, I am exaggerating. I loved Alice. She’s perfect for the part. I won’t comment on the others anymore.

What added salt to my open wound is the fact that the movie-goers beside and behind me could not freaking shut their mouths up! They anticipate every scene by freaking saying the lines! Argh. I want to tell them, “Why don’t you freaking shut up?! Most of us freaking read the book and knows what’s going to happen next! Don’t be a know-it-all and say the lines before the actors do!” Grr… Plus, the one behind me keeps kicking the back of my seat.

I am hoping that the next movie, if there will be one, would have a big budget. I don’t mind sitting in a three-hour-well-edited movie. I guess, I am quite disappointed because I’ve read the books. Of course, I expected more. A new director would be a great move. Well, like I said, I would treat the movie as an adaptation. A low-budgeted adaptation.

I was also disappointed with the movie. I think most of the people who have read the book got disappointed.

  3. I’m not a fan but I’ve been acquainted with Twilight because my younger sister-in-law is an avid fan and has read all the books and raving about it.

From what I’ve read from other reviews, its basically the same as what you’ve mentioned here. The movie isn’t as good as the book plus the movie I think was geared towards the teenyboppers. :D

If I was in your place, I’d tell those people to shut up. Hehe Btw, I read that the movie will also have a sequel. Hopefully it would be better than the first. :)

  4. I’m returning a comment.

I want to get the book for my mom and myself, I’ll take it from you that it’s better than the movie.

  5. I completely feel your pain on this subject. I was stuck in a movie theatre full of fangirls that did nothing but scream the entire time the movie was on. Me & my friend did nothing but laugh at the movie. The acting could’ve been way better, the only person I did like however was Ashley Greene playing Alice, she did a good job. Didn’t like the person who played Bella or played Edward. The movie was rushed as well, and for a big book like this it should’ve been better budgeted because of how big it was gonna be. But eh, oh well we can’t do anything about the way Hollywood does their films.

  6. Why would a sucky movie be better the second time, lmao? I’ve never heard of that.

I’m sorry you had a poor movie experience though. I HATE when people talk during movies :|

  7. Haha, that’s what my classmates said about Jasper too. They told me that he did look constipated. So you’re not exaggerating at all! XD

I haven’t watched the movie yet and I don’t think I ever will. Many of the people I know were disappointed with it.

Oh, and I hate it when people talk in the movie theater too. :|

  8. I have pretty much heard most of the things you said about the movie. Funny enough the friend of mine who didn’t read the books liked the movie well enough. I chose not to go see it in the theater because I know I’ll be disappointed and wish I hadn’t wasted the time or the money. Of course I will see it on DVD though.

As for the people behind you, I would have given them a piece of mine mind and told the one to stop kicking the seat. I swear some people are just rude and obnoxious!

ugh. me too..i was sooo disappointed about the movie..

maybe it was just because i kindda expected more..

    but it really sucked..

and i kind of imagined jacob to have a long, silky hair..instead of a hair that looks like the head of the broom!! :((

ugh…and edward..he is handsome but he didnt appeal to me as much as he appealed to me at the book..

jasper was soooo ridiculous!!haha..he acted like a zombie in the movie and FYI he is a VAMPIRE not a ZOMBIE!!

and i thought emmett was cute..:D move over rosalie coz yas is here!! :))

and last but not the least..

i hated the the movie because they didnt show my favorite part: when edward was sitting on the rocking chair in bella’s room..and he told bella about what she said that night…and that was the time that he told bella.. “you are my life now”..the movie was soooo wrong when it came to that..in the movie, edward said that before bella, alice & jasper went to phoenix!! ugh..sooo..to sum it all up..i hate the movie **but i loved the book :D

I guess one of the advantages of not being able to read the book was that I was able to appreciate the movie overall. Heehee. I wasn’t expecting much from it and I actually enjoyed watching it :D

I’m pretty sure the next installment will be much better considering that they were able to make a lot of money from the first movie! Oh well.
