Singapore: First Day, Universal Studios

Finally on the plane, filling out the immigration cards and at the back it reads:

My day started at 5:30am. We arrived in Singapore on time around midnight. Since we are 6, we decided to take a maxicab, which will take you anywhere in Singapore for $50SGD. The driver knew where to go by just saying the name of the place where we’re staying at, Footprints Hostel.

Singapore at night is in itself so beautiful. The city is alive with gorgeous lights and you can see their landmarks lighted beautifully. We saw The Singapore Flyer, The Marina Bay Sands and the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City. We arrived at the hostel at 1AM. Ryan and I decided to go the corner store, which is open 24/7. I found my favorite Pepero, $1.20/each but when you buy 3, it’s only $2.10 – so I bought 3; got myself a can of Winter Melon Tea and noodles for Ryan.

Our first day was spent mostly at the Universal Studios Singapore. I knew that walking around Universal Studios would wear us all out, but it was worth the visit. Footprints Hostel is near Little India MRT, so every morning we walk towards Little India Stn to go to different places in Singapore.

Off to Universal Studios Singapore

First stop, Harbourfront Station. It’s the first station on the purple line, but it’s 5 stations away from Little India. We get off at Vivo City, went up to Level 3, bought ourselves $3 tickets to board the Sentosa Express. There are 4 different stops, but to get to Universal Studios, we get off at Resorts World.

We watched a lot of shows.

  • Monster Rock
  • Lights, Camera, Action – must see!
  • Shrek in 4D – loved this :)
  • Waterworld – amazing stunts, but don’t sit on the blue and green seats if you don’t want to get soaked!
  • Donkey Live!

We had lunch at Mel’s Drive-in Diner, $10.80 for a meal. I ordered the Chillie Burger, but it was too bland for me. Good thing I had cheesy fries with it.

We took lots of photos and walked around the whole park from 10AM until 6PM. We were supposed to go to Clarke Quay after, but my parents were exhausted.

Enjoy the slideshow below, well, click on the thumbnails to view our Universal Studios adventure!
