My cousin came home from Canada for a short visit. We threw him a Bon Voyage get together last Sunday, and he asked me, “Don’t you want to try working in Canada?”. I paused. He said that he can tell by the look on my face that I am tired of what I am doing right now, and that I am ready to work on going abroad.
In February, I flew to Hong Kong for a short vacation. In that short time, I fell in love with the city. Wait, is Hong Kong a city? I have plans on finding a job there, and I hope I can find one soon. I am in the process of saving up money to support this goal. It won’t be easy, I know that, but it has to be done. We have a piece of property in Makati and we would like to put up a business there.
Experiencing the culture for a short period of time was enough for me to decide that I want to try living there to work for a while. Of course, it would definitely be a big change for me. I would have to study common Chinese phrases and perfect eating with chopsticks. I would need to take some classes, too, acquire additional knowledge. I am even thinking about enrolling in the University of the Philippines.
There are so many things that I want to accomplish. Some say that at my age, it’s almost too late, but I don’t want to believe that. Positivity and hard work will do the trick.
