WordCamp, Meeting Matt Mullenweg

Matt Mullenweg and Miss Dre

Today, a lot of Filipino bloggers headed over to College of St. Benilde Augusto-Rosario Gonzalez Theater to attend the first ever WordCamp in the Philippines. I arrived with Lexie and Rex, and Aja joined us. I was excited to meet Matt Mullenweg, so after lunch time, we ambushed Matt to autograph our WordCamp t-shirts and pose for photos with us.

We attended three breakaway sessions during the WordCamp. The first talk was from Gail Villanueva, “Creating WordPress Themes & CSS Power”. It is quite interesting since I, too, make Wordpress themes and I like the power of CSS. The next one I attended is “Building A Blogging Community” with Blogie Robillo. The last one is by Danilo Arao who tackled “Blogging & Journalism”, which is quite interesting. The speaker really knows what he’s talking about and welcomed our questions about the topic discussed.

Matt discussed the future of Wordpress and he demonstrated what bloggers should expect from Wordpress soon. It is actually exciting, the many changes, and I can’t wait for it to happen. Matt is a really pleasant individual and he took time talking to us when we ambushed him for photo snaps. He made us feel like he’s not the rockstar of the blogging industry.

Basically, WordCamp is a success. I would attend again next year, if there is one.

Oh, and Matt said he is voting for Barack Obama. :D
